  Nursing Care provides...

Answers to questions about medical treatments.. Why? What? How?

  • Help in managing possible side effects of treatment.
  • Help in coping with common changes in body image as a result of surgery or chemotherapy.
  • A contact person and medical situation assessment for the patient and family when they can't contact the physician.

 Nutrition Services provide...
  • Assessment of nutritional status and effects on ability to tolerate treatment.
  • Recommendations for modifications of diet to combat weight loss and cope with nausea and diarrhea.
  • Help in compiling a diet history to identify well-liked foods with calorie count to make sure oral intake is adequate.

 Pharmacy provides...
  • Information for patients and caregivers regarding management of pain so the patient may receive adequate medication.
  • Pain assessments of patients with monitoring of response to medication.
  • A resource for patients and families regarding availability of medications and reimbursement issues.

 Medical Psychotherapy provides...
  • In-depth counseling and psychotherapy for patients and
    families, in groups or individually.
  • Hypnotherapeutic services to help the patient recover
    an inner basis of control in managing pain, depression,
    anxiety, and other conflicts during the disease process.
  • Assistance in stress management, relaxation training,
    biofeedback, psychoeducation and mindfulness training
    (meditation and yoga practice) to enhance coping skills
    of patients and families.

 Medical Social Work provides...

Supportive counseling to patients and families with:

  • Assistance in problem solving, decision making and discharge planning.

Arrangements for home services:

  • home health nursing
  • hospice
  • medical equipment
  • oxygen

  • financial resource planning

  • Exercise, including range of motion, strengthening,
    endurance, and active assistance.
  • Functional training...walking, steps, transfers and bed
  • Energy conservation training, techniques, and pain
  • Edema control following mastectomy.

  • Functional Living Index Survey
  • Individual empowerment, informal information sessions
    and peer support.
  • Van Service. Van Service is available for non-emergency
    transportation to the hospital for those with no other
    means of transportation Monday through Friday, 7:30
    a.m. - 4p.m.
